The Village Tech community in Duncanville, Texas, is mourning the heartbreaking loss of Lucas Reyna, a beloved student who had just completed sixth grade. Lucas tragically passed away on June 8, 2026, in a car accident on Wheatland Road in Duncanville. The crash also claimed the lives of his mother and grandmother, leaving family, friends, classmates, and educators devastated by the unimaginable loss.
Lucas had been part of the Village Tech family since Pre-K and was known throughout the school for his kind heart, friendly personality, and genuine concern for others. He was the type of student who made everyone feel welcome and valued. Teachers fondly recall how Lucas would begin each day by asking, “How are you?” and sincerely checking in on them throughout the day. His thoughtfulness and compassion made a lasting impact on both staff and fellow students.
His teacher, Ms. Wilbon, remembered Lucas as a student every educator hopes to have in their classroom. She noted that it was not simply the words he spoke, but the care and sincerity behind them that made him so special. His kindness brightened the days of those around him and left a lasting impression on everyone fortunate enough to know him.
Outside the classroom, Lucas loved creating things with his hands and had a passion for baseball. He proudly played for the Duncanville Horned Frogs alongside several fellow Village Tech students. Coach Sandro described him as a teammate everyone loved, always wearing a smile and eager to learn, grow, and enjoy the game he loved. His enthusiasm and positive spirit inspired teammates and coaches alike.
The accident also left Lucas’s cousin, former Village Tech student Ryan Rodriguez, critically injured. The community continues to keep Ryan and the entire family in their thoughts and prayers.
As Village Tech mourns this tremendous loss, counselors and staff are offering support to students, families, and faculty members. Though his life was tragically short, Lucas Reyna’s legacy of kindness, friendship, and joy will continue to live on in the hearts of all who knew him. He will be deeply missed and forever remembered.
